As some of you know, my daughter had her second baby last week. Just as my virtual critique group got underway last Monday evening, my daughter texted to say that this could be the real deal, even though the baby wasn’t due for another week. I quickly packed the items I’d set aside and was on the road in less than ten minutes to make the 50-minute drive. Thankfully, rush hour had ended by that point.

I arrived a little past eight p.m. They left for the hospital a little after midnight, and Abigail Claire was born 25-minutes later, at 8lb, 2 oz.

Mom and baby are doing fine. Because of the timing of delivery and protocols, they had to stay at the hospital two nights. When she brought Abby home, her big sister took a close look at her, then wandered off. For the first couple of days she was ambivalent, but she’s now taken more interest. When Ellie wakes up in the morning, she says, “let’s go see the baby”. Needless to say, I didn’t focus on writing and launch preparation at all for a little bit, but I’m back in the groove. With launch day’s only three weeks away, there’s still plenty to do. The photo below is of Ellie at her 2nd birthday party a couple of weeks ago.

Congratulations to all!

How tiny and what a joy. Lap up every minute as they grow so fast.

Thanks, Mallee. Yes, I’d forgotten how small newborns are until I was holding one again. And now Ellie seems so big!

Yes, she does have a lot of hair, but less and a little lighter than her sister’s was.
